Join SMPS/LA in congratulating Deena Weiner Widran, AIA, PBD, Regional Business Development Director of Degenkolb Engineers, upon being named the 2022 Leonardo Award honoree!

The coveted Leonardo Award is bestowed annually to marketing and business development professionals in the Los Angeles A/E/C community who embody the character and spirit of Leonardo da Vinci, the renowned Renaissance painter, sculptor, inventor, and writer.  As da Vinci was considered a visionary among his peers, so are Leonardo Award recipients.

Deena’s path to becoming a marketing and business development professional was an unusual one, having trained and worked as a licensed architect for 20 years, winning awards as a designer and acting as an owner’s representative, before taking a risk that started her “second act” as a business developer a decade ago. Like Leonardo da Vinci, whose skills were wide-ranging, Deena has leveraged her multi-faceted career experiences to achieve success as a business developer-while still maintaining her architecture license-to mentor other professionals, to support the Los Angeles A/E/C community, and to advocate for greater leadership roles for marketing and business development professionals.

Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health was nominated and selected as the 2022 Industry Award Recipient due to their steadfast commitment and tireless efforts in helping to make mental health services more accessible to LA County residents and community members.

Over the past decade, LACDMH has procured funding and worked in close partnership with A/E/C firms and professionals to provide a full spectrum of mental health and wellness services in a variety of physical settings—including outpatient community care, residential treatment, mental health urgent care, crisis stabilization, and field-based services—to over 4,000 square miles and 10 million residents of LA County.

The Leonardo Awards Program has recognized outstanding professionals within the Los Angeles A/E/C community over the past 41 years.  Deena Weiner Widran, AIA, PBD of Degenkolb Engineers and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health join the prestigious ranks of other visionary professionals and organizations who've made monumental contributions to their workplace, colleagues, and the industry-at-large.

SMPS/LA and the venue will adhere to the County mandates in place at event time. Currently, either proof of vaccination or a negative lab-administered (home tests are not accepted) COVID test taken within 72 hours of the event is required. The proof of vaccination must be for at least two doses taken at least two weeks prior to the event. As an attendee, you and your guests agree to abide by these requirements.
